Elder law, estate planning, and estate administration attorney Karen Malay joined Allman Spry in 2005 and is a member/shareholder in the firm. Karen’s practice is concentrated in consumer bankruptcy, estate planning, elder law and commercial leasing. Her practice includes representation of debtors in bankruptcy and financial institutions and other creditors in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 proceedings. Karen is known for her diligent work in helping clients weigh various options and make informed decisions about their financial futures. Karen served a three-year term on the Bankruptcy Council for the Bankruptcy Section of the North Carolina Bar Association and has been a lecturer at the Middle District Bankruptcy Seminar.

Karen Malay also advises clients with respect to their elder law and estate planning needs and prepares wills, trusts, and legal documents necessary to effectuate their estate plans. She assists fiduciaries with the administration of estates and trusts as well.

Additionally, Karen assists both commercial landlords and tenants with the negotiation of office leases and retail spaces, as well as with the drafting of leases and amendments.

When away from the office, Karen loves to bake and is known around the firm for her delectable desserts and other sweet treats and baked goods.
