George T. ("Ted") Mann

Retired

Corporate and intellectual property law attorney Ted Mann (Retired) provided practical legal advice and guidance to companies and their owners, officers, and employees, with respect to a variety of organizational, operational, and strategic matters. His clients included large and small companies — public as well as private — conducting business in diverse industries, in different jurisdictions in the United States and abroad. He often counseled clients regarding choice of business entity (e.g. corporation, limited liability company, or partnership), formation and organization of the new entity, along with operational and ongoing compliance matters.

Before retiring from the firm, Ted routinely represented clients in many different kinds of commercial transactions. He frequently advised and assisted clients in drafting, negotiating, and interpreting commercial contracts of all sorts, including employment agreements, sales and distribution agreements, leases, and shareholder agreements. He also assisted clients in securing and protecting rights in intellectual property and drafted and negotiated and enforced intellectual property licensing agreements for both licensors and licensees.

Ted Mann served for three years as Administrator of the North Carolina Credit Union Division and as Chairman of the North Carolina Credit Union Commission, entities which supervise the operations of state chartered credit unions in North Carolina. He also has served as general counsel and chief operating officer of a regional commercial products company, legal counsel to a large public company, and legislative counsel to a federal agency in Washington, D.C.

Drawing on his diverse professional experiences in both the public and private sectors, Ted offered clients practical, common sense, “value added” legal advice.

Allman Spry consists of remarkable people doing remarkable things. Ted’s first real job was as a cowboy on a large Texas ranch. Today, rather than chasing cattle, he prefers chasing all sorts of fish from the mountains to beyond the 100 fathom line offshore. If he is not fishing, you will likely find him standing behind bird dogs awaiting the quail covey flush. Cowboy to business lawyer…now that is remarkable.
